Are Women
Buying More Sports Cars?
Apparently so according to this info
from Automotive Digest:
. Women now buying more sports cars, asserting their
independence, says Road & Travel editor-in-chief Courtney Caldwell.
Greater
workplace equality, larger salaries for women contribute to desire to purchase
status symbol vehicles.

I agree with all the facts. I have a couple of other thoughts that
may contribute to women purchasing more sports cars. A large segment of women
who have the buying power are Baby Boomers /Empty Nester's. This group are now
free to live their life without the responsibility of raising children. When selling
a sports car to a woman, her buying motive usually is she wants to treat herself.
At the time of purchase, she usually makes one or two statements-"I've raised
my kids and I deserve it." or "I work hard for my money and I deserve
to have some fun." This has been my experience of women purchasing sports
cars.
Having completed the "Richard Petty Driving Experience"
with a top speed of 120 at Atlanta Speedway--I must add that there are lots of
women like me who enjoy the Speed and Power of a sports car."
