Are You A Woman Friendly Dealer?

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING
A CAR FROM A PRIVATE PARTY?

Buying a car from an individual can be a lot less troublesome than going to a dealership, in some instances. You don't have to deal with dealership sales staff, departments, and the dealership process. However, when buying from an individual/private party there are some things you want to be mindful of:

1. If possible, get a referral from someone you know. This is always a good idea because you may feel slightly more comfortable about your purchase. This is not to say you can't get a good deal from a classified ad or car you see in your neighborhood or community.

2. Find out why they're selling the car. You can't rely on getting the whole truth and nothing but with this question, but it's good to ask anyway.

3. Find out if they've kept maintenance records. This gives you an idea of the condition of the car and if it's been taken care of properly.

4. Ask if they are the only owner. Usually one owner versus several is better but it significantly depends on the previous drivers. Cars with one owner however will probably give a much clearer picture of the cars history.

5. Check the car out on your own and with a licensed mechanic. There are a number of things you want to look for when buying a used car. The best person to advise you in this area is a reputable mechanic that you trust.
