WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A DEALERSHIP?
Sometimes a consumer will have a problem with a dealership for whatever reason and they need to know the best way to resolve the issue. The first thing you want to do is to try to work with the dealership. Start with whatever department you're having the problem with, sales, service, etc. If you don't get any results there, you can go to the General Manager of the dealership who can in some instances be the owner. Make sure to document any desputes in writing. Letters can sometimes get attention that verbal discussions may not get. Hopefully, this will resolve your issue, but in some cases it may not. Now you have to determine which route you want to go next, which will depend on the situation you have. Contacting a manufacturer rarely helps because most of the dealerships are franchised or independent meaning they leave the daily, general operations to the owner or manager.
Your next option is to contact an agency like the Better Business Bureau which will register a complaint on the dealership. However, that's probably as far as you'll get there. You might also try contacting the local dealership association if they are a member. While these associations are established for the dealerships, they don't
want to be represented with members that aren't operating respectfully.
If want to bring attention to the issue you might consider contacting the media, which often has consumer advocates. Most companies don't want bad publicity so this could solve your problem.
If the matter is legal, you can contact an attorney. Chances are if you're dealing with some type of fraud, you're not the only one.
