There are many car dealerships that prey on individuals that have credit problems. You often see advertisements like "No credit, bad credit, we can help?" (see our article of the same title). Unfortunately, when you have bad credit it limits your options, which is why some dealerships make this offer. They know your options are limited and they will often prey on that fact. If you have bad credit or little credit you probably want get the best rate or price on a car, but it doesn't mean you can't get a car.

The better option however is to work on your credit if you have the luxury of doing that before making your car purchase. Start by finding out your credit score. It's always a good idea to know where you stand in this area.

Take some time and save up some money and buy a more affordable used car. Make the sacrifice and drive an older car that's reliable into you get in better position credit wise. Once this happens, join a credit union and position yourself to get a better rate and price when purchasing your next car.
