Auto Maintenance Schedule (Sample)

When it comes to maintaining your car, the best strategy for determining your schedule is to refer to your owner's manual. Each car is different, but here is a general guideline for routine maintenance:

Auto Maintenance Schedule
System Location Color Frequency
Engine Oil Near front of car Yellow or white Check oil weekly
Power Steering Usually in metal or plastic container on driver's side Clear or red/pinkish color Check monthly
Coolant/Anti-freeze Left side of car Green or Orange Flush green every two years/ Flush orange every 5 years
Transmission Fluid In front Red Check monthly; change yearly
Brake Fluid On right, back side Yellow If fluid is low, have brakes checked for wear or fluid loss. Typically don't add brake fluid.

Always check your owner's manual to determine the recommendations that have been set by the manufacturer. Keep in mind that schedules are set based on ideal conditions.
