The following
is a "must have" list for all women to carry in their cars:
1. Cell phone - Keep it charged
and handy to the driver
2. Jumper cables - Know how to use them.
3. Gallon of water- In case of overheating or radiator leak.
4. Can of Fix-a-Flat -This inflates the tire and seals the leak, which
should last long enough to get you to safety or a service shop
5.
In the winter, Kitty Litter to put under tires if caught on ice.
6. Electrical tape, for frayed or broken cables.
7. Pliers
or multi-purpose wrench to tighten loose bolts or nuts
8. Screw
drivers, both Flat and Phillips type for same as above. Be sure they have
either rubber or plastic grips to prevent electrical shock.
9. Spare
fuses of each strength, i.e. 5, 10, 15 amps. Important to know where fuse
panel is located and how to pop out the bad fuse. If one or more electrical compotents
quit working at the same time, look for a bad fuse. Panel usually has a diagram
showing which fuse goes to turn signals, electric windows, etc. If not, look in
owner's manual
10. Flashlight - check batteries often.
11. Engine Oil - Keep one or two quarts handy.
These are the most important items. They can be stored in a box in the trunk
or you can buy a kit with most of the items compactly stored.
